Metabot was designed by the start-up Rhoban System S.A.S, the LaBRI (french laboratory: Laboratoire bordelais de recherche en informatique), the association Robot Campus and Bordeaux INP and the Aquitaine Robotics cluster.

Metabot is also in partership with Generation Robots.

Why?

Metabot can be used to study legged locomotion, an interresting subject, because of the number of degrees of freedom.

This is also a mobile platform, that can go fast (35cm/s), in many direction, and be autonomous (~1h).
It is possible to program it using graphical editor adapted for teaching programming, but also by changing its firmware, for expert users.

Is it hard?

Don’t worry, Metabot is adapted for both beginers and expert users: no need to know how to program or to have a great DIY background to make and control it.

The Metabot project is open-source, under CC-BY-NC license. This means that you are free to make one yourself. However, if you want to use it for commercial purpose (assembled or as a kit), you will have to contact us first.
